Happy Holidays

2011 was a good year for us.

We got our record released in Central Europe and North America by cool labels.
We got kicked out of a Finnish label that used to be really cool.
We played around 30 awesome shows around Finland, Germany, the Netherlands and Poland.
We met amazing people, played with cool bands, visited beautiful places, stayed up late and played a lot of videogames.

I'd say the high points of the year were touring Germany with I Like Trains.
For example the shows at Gebäude 9 and Gleis 22 were really memorable!

Another high point was when we hit the studio to record 'Before I Go Go EP'. There was no pressure, no big ideas, just the four of us hanging out and playing some songs.
And it turned out quite nicely, didn't it? (Get it HERE for FREE if you don't already have it. )

And I'm pretty sure the next high point will be us hitting the studio next week after Christmas festivities.
We've booked a few days at Mankku-studios and we have around 5-7 songs to record. I'm guessing we'll try to lay down the basic tracks next week and then continue working on the album in late February. We're working with our super talented friend Julius Mauranen on this album too.
Hopefully we can find someone to release the album when the time comes but whatever happens we're going to try and give you a first sample of the new stuff during spring of 2012.

We were featured on some 'Best of 2011' lists:

Thanks Julius for mixing Before I Go Go EP, for the cruise trip to Stockholm and for being excited about the next album, it's gonna be good! Big thanks to Dan & Steph at Friendly Fire Recordings, hopefully we can visit the US soon, you guys are great! Thanks Cargo Records for your support! Thanks to Ossian for booking us many shows and for being a great dude. Thanks to Teemu and James for cool music videos.

And we really wish to thank everyone who came to our shows this year, bought the record, downloaded the EP, listened to our music and got something out of it. Thank you for your support online and offline.

Hopefully next year we can meet more people, visit new places and reach a lot of people with our music.
2011 was good and let's hope that 2012 will be even better for all of us.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

SXSW & Canadian Music Fest CANCELLED!

We're very sad to announce that we're forced to cancel our showcases at SXSW and Canadian Music Fest in 2012.

The reason is mainly financial.
Just the US-visa payments for a party of four are ridiculously high and since we couldn't get a tour around SXSW, it just doesn't make sense at this point . As you probably know we're unsigned at the moment and quite broke so flying overseas for a few shows sounds a bit crazy for us.

We're sorry to disappoint any American fans, but we'll definitely try to come touring there as soon as it is possible and not a financial suicide.

There's also a lot of other stuff happening in our lives and I guess we have to find the fun in being in the band again. We're focusing on recording some new material with our friend Julius Mauranen in December and we already managed to record some songs in Hämeenlinna with Teemu Vilmunen a few weeks ago.
We're trying to be care free with the new material and not calculate things too much.
So if our record ends up being ½ of punk rock and ½ of instrumental jams, don't panic, it's just us feeling good and enjoying being in the band again.

All the best to everyone and enjoy the holidays!
XOXO

Before I Go Go EP

Before I Go Go EP by Delay Trees

'Before I Go Go EP' is finally released, you can listen to it at Soundcloud and download it HERE.

We have a (very) limited edition cassette also coming up which you can purchase directly from us at our shows or order soon at our website, HERE.

We're trying to get the cassette for Flow Festival, but let's see what happens with the printing.

The EP is basically a THANK YOU to all you wonderful people for your constant support. It has some quite old tunes and one very new song (Before I Go) and it's no masterpiece in any standards, but it has some really great moments and we had a lot of fun making it.
Hopefully it translates.

See you on the road people!

xoxo

Little update

It's now summer in Finland and it's warm and pretty and everything is just perfect.

We played a laid back show in Helsinki a few weeks ago with Paperfangs and are going to play a couple of cool Finnish festivals later this summer (Ämyrock, Flow-festival) but all in all we're taking it easy, practising new songs, experimenting with new sounds and maybe releasing a new five song EP which consists of really old and really new material.
We've also planned to swim a lot, play soccer a lot and maybe longboard a little.

Friendly Fire Recordings have been good to us, the record has made quite well on college radios and About Brothers video has aired multiple times on MTV, Much Music, Spinner, etc. So some really cool small things have been happening for us in the States and I've given a couple of nice interviews as well. Check them out here and here.

We've also had some licensing interest from Japan, which would be cool, let's see what happens. At the moment it seems that we'll be visiting Germany once again in October, but I don't have enough info yet to share you with any details. We have a new booking agent in Europe and we're looking forward to coming back to Germany!

We're now officially out of Johanna Kustannus label. We are very happy to be out of there as it is no longer the company we originally signed to. It was sold to Universal and things really changed to worse.
We're looking for a new label and in an ideal world we would put out a new album next spring.
We have around 7 new songs that are quite good and quite different from the old material. Meaning that slow songs are slower, dreamy songs are dreamier and we even have a few fast and fuzzy pop songs.

I've been listening to a lot of early Flaming Lips, like 'Clouds Taste Metallic', early R.E.M. and Slowdive's 'Pygmalion'. I guess the new songs are some kind of a mixture of the moods those records share. Dreamy and hazy and a bit lo-fi.

I'm not sure what we're gonna do with the EP I mentioned earlier. We don't know if we're gonna release it by ourselves or with someone, or will it be a download only or maybe just a limited edition cassette or something, but we'll let you know soon. Promise.

So I guess we're doing quite alright, nice things are happening all the time, we're excited about the new songs and just hoping that the future looks as bright as the past.

Thanks for your support people and enjoy the summer.

Here's one of the best shoegaze songs ever written for your listening pleasure!

Beautiful Video for About Brothers OUT NOW!!

"This music video tells a story of a boy who creates a world with his
drawings - meets some bad guys but befriends them and gets the girl in
the
end.

The boy is acted by the directors brother, Tomi, who in real life draws
dozens of pictures a day, listens to great deal of music and writes
stories about robots, droids and saving damsels in distress - he likes to
call himself the "Ambassador of good will".

The director originally aimed to make a short film about his brother, but
when the band Delay Trees contacted him in the hopes of a music video,
he
realized their music made the perfect match for this story.

Filming took place in the dusk of the Western Finland's
countryside and
was supplemented with shots in a local doll-museum.

To re-create that 8-mm retro-look, the director
attached vintage Canon FD
lenses to his camera with a 35-mm adapter
built by himself. This added to
the unique look of the piece.
Tomi's drawings were then
scanned in
digitally and animated in 3D to interact with him in his
imaginative
world."
